Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment used to improve the shape, fullness, and definition of the eyebrows. Using a handheld tool, fine pigment strokes are placed into the skin to create the appearance of natural brow hairs.

This treatment is often chosen by patients who have thin, patchy, asymmetrical, or overplucked brows, or who simply want a more defined shape that still looks soft and natural. The goal is not to make your brows look harsh or overdone. It is to create brows that look balanced, polished, and suited to your features.

Bita offers three brow techniques and recommends one at your consultation, based on your skin type, existing brow hair and the look you want.

Microblading

A manual technique using precise hair-like strokes to enhance eyebrow shape, fullness and symmetry. Each brow is designed around your facial features and natural hair growth. Bita trained in the PhiAcademy system, and her microblading follows PhiBrows-style brow mapping. For finer, softer strokes she may use an ultra-fine nano blade (sometimes called nanoblading). Best suited to normal or dry skin and to clients who want a natural, hair-stroke look.

Powder Brows (Ombre Brows)

A machine shading technique that builds soft, powdered colour through the brow, lighter at the front and fuller toward the tail, similar to brows filled in with powder or pencil. Often a good choice for oily or combination skin, where hair strokes can blur over time.

Combo Brows

Hair-like strokes at the front of the brow combined with soft shading through the body and tail, for brows that look natural up close and defined from a distance.

1. Consultation (15 minutes, complimentary). Bita looks at your brows, skin and goals, explains the techniques and answers your questions.
2. Brow design. Your brows are measured and drawn on so you can see the shape before treatment. Nothing is applied until you approve it.
3. Numbing. A topical numbing product is applied to keep you comfortable.
4. Treatment. Pigment is placed in fine strokes, matched to your hair colour and skin tone. Plan for about 2 hours for the first session.
5. Perfecting touch-up (about 90 minutes). Booked 6 to 8 weeks later, once the skin has healed, to refine shape and fill any strokes that faded during healing.

Microblading uses a specialized handheld tool to place pigment into the skin using fine, precise strokes. The technique is designed to mimic natural brow hairs, which is why it is especially popular for patients who want a soft, realistic result rather than a heavily filled-in look.

Treatment planning is just as important as technique. Brow mapping, pigment selection, skin assessment, and an understanding of facial balance all play a role in creating results that look natural and flattering.

Before your appointment

• Avoid brow waxing, threading or tinting for about one week.
• Stop retinoid and exfoliating products on the brow area about one to two weeks before, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• Avoid tanning and sunburn on the face for two weeks.
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
• If you take blood thinners or other prescription medicines, speak with your doctor first; never stop a medicine without medical advice.

Aftercare

• Keep brows dry and free of makeup for about 7 to 10 days, and follow the written aftercare instructions you receive.
• Do not pick, rub or scratch the area.
• Avoid saunas, swimming, heavy sweating and direct sun while healing.
• Once healed, use sunscreen on your brows and follow Bita's aftercare advice.

Microblading may be a good option if you:

When to Wait or Choose Another Option

Microblading may not be suitable, or may need to wait, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin condition or irritation in the brow area, have a history of keloid scarring, have recently taken oral isotretinoin, or have a medical condition that affects healing or bleeding. Very oily skin can blur hair strokes over time, so Bita may suggest a different brow technique. Please tell us about your health history at your consultation.
